“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10)
This Quiet Day will look at the different features of winter and link them with aspects of God- his character, purpose and his provision for both plants and animals, as well as us, in this challenging season.
We will look at winter gardening and examine the key analogies with our own lives, such as plants stopping and resting, pruning away unwanted growth, preparing the soil and planning for spring.
We will also reflect on our own ‘winter’ experiences in life: bereavement, divorce, job loss, etc., and see how a time of waiting can help to draw us closer to God as well as preparing us for a new season.
Times for walking in the garden or countryside, stillness, prayer, and creative activities such as gardening, writing and artwork may also be included in the programme.
