Waiting – a reflection on the psalms and the image of a waiting heron
“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word, I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchman wait for the morning, more than watchman wait for the morning.” (Psalm 130:5 – 6)
One of the important exhortations of the Bible is the call to “wait on the Lord”. It is one of keys to empowerment in the spiritual life, but sadly it is one of the most difficult things to do!
Using the psalms and the image of a waiting heron, we will reflect on the exhortation ‘to wait’ and explore what it means to wait and how it might be done.
The programme will include times for stillness, prayer, walking and creative activities such as writing and artwork.
